The Harley-Davidson did start to became recognized when William Harley and Arthur Davidson produced last 1903 the first development of motorcycle. The motobike that was built was a racing bike. It was made in a small shed wooden named Harley-Davidson Motor Company on the front door. One year later Harley-Davidson had put out 3 production motorcycles for the public. Harley Davidson V-Rod
Harley-Davidson hired their first staff last 1905 when they won the first race. After 3 years, they sold to the Detroit Police department their first motorcycles which was used as a police service. They became productive that they were able to develop a 6 story factory building and started to export their motorcycles to the Japan.
H-D entered the national racing circuit in 1914 and became termed “the wrecking crew”. By 1917 one-third of all motorcycles built would be sold to the military, and has also been the start of the Service School for Harley-Davidson Mechanics, for both military and civilian bikes.
By 1918 half of all bikes made were sent off to military for service in World War 1, and Corporal Roy Holtz is definitely the first soldier to ride a Harley-Davidson Motorcycle in Germany. The motocycle company became more fruitful in 1920 with 2,000 dealers in 67 countries in the whole world.
1931 is the year that almost all of Harley’s competitors are gone, with the exception of the Indian Motorcycle Company. These two companies were the only remaining motocrycle companies in United States until 1953.
As being the world gets into into World War 2, so does Harley turn back into Military motorcycle production, and the service school is flipped back into the military motorcycle service school, also called the Quartermaster School for military mechanics. The Harley-Davidson Motorcycle were not really reached out by the public during this time.
